The substantive program of the 18th PTMN Congress included 28 scientific sessions, during which 70 lectures were delivered (including 14 lectures delivered by speakers from abroad) and 75 reports were presented in oral or poster form.
The congress was held under the slogan "Nuclear medicine - clinical impact". Therefore, the deliberations were attended by experts from various clinical fields: oncology, urology, endocrinology, cardiology, rheumatology, neuropsychology.
Lectures and discussions focused on better use of modern nuclear medicine methods in clinical practice.
The central point was an oncology session, during which a group of experts discussed the latest recommendations for PET/CT examinations in oncology. In addition to PTMN representatives, the meeting was attended by, among others: prof. Piotr Rutkowski, chairman of the Polish Oncological Society, prof. Adam Maciejczyk, founder of the Polish Oncology Network and prof. Radosław Mądry - president-elect of the Polish Society of Gynecological Oncology. Representatives of patient groups were also invited to the discussion, including: Mrs. Krystyna Wechmann, president of the "Amazonki" Association..
After this session, a press briefing was held, during which the importance of modern nuclear medicine was discussed and attention was drawn to the problems that reduce access to it for all patients in need. The summary presents a list of solutions that, with the involvement of the relevant authorities, should improve the situation..
During the briefing, the Nuclear Medicine Month was also inaugurated - an action promoting the clinical importance of nuclear medicine in various disciplines in the form of a series of publications prepared with the participation of experts from our Society.
Another important event of the day was an anniversary session in connection with the 20th anniversary of peptide-receptor therapy in Poland with the participation of outstanding Polish experts in nuclear medicine and endocrinology.
Sessions were also held during the congress:
1. Session of the Polish Academy of Sciences
2. Session POL-9027 under the auspices of the International Energy Agency
Atomic.
The novelties of this congress also included: A session of Young Nuclear Physicians and a quiz for participants summarizing the information presented at the congress.
Important decisions regarding the Society were made at the general meeting.
1. Changes to the statute were adopted, including: the rules of membership in PTMN have been simplified without the need to constantly pay dues.
2. After several years, the contributions were increased.
3. A new design of the website www.ptmn.pl was presented.
4. The new PTMN logo was presented.
5. The following people were voted for honorary membership: Ph.D. Aleg Baranovski, prof. Ph.D. Barbara Jarząb, prof. Ph.D. Leszek Królicki.
6. President-Elect elected (President in 2026-30) - prof. Ph.D. Rafał Czepczyński
The congress was accompanied by events:
1. Grand opening of the congress in the Imperial Castle; inaugural lecture
delivered by anthropologist, prof. Waldemar Kuligowski; after the lecture took place
concert with the participation of prof. Ph.D. Anna Sowa-Staszczak and Ph.D. Robert Oleksa z
music by the band Akustyczna OpeRacja.
2. Dinner and social gathering at Concordia Design
The Congress was attended by 342 participants and 17 industry companies that presented their products at stands.
